Naomi Eide, Editor at CIO Dive, joined the team on this week’s episode of “Inside the Media Minds” for a 360-degree conversation on the cybersecurity landscape and her personal journey to a career in journalism. Here is a small glimpse into our conversation:
- Eide opens up about her views on technology as an overhyped and overvalued asset. “If you are looking to technology to solve all your business problems, you are inaccurate in many ways,” she says.
- One of the biggest concerns Eide sees across the board is workforce capability challenges amid the existing talent shortage – it’s one of the top issues keeping CIOs and CISOs up at night.
- Eide also shares her key takeaways from last month’s RSA Conference. The editor challenges CEOs to start attending the event, instead of the CIOs and CISOs who don’t need the tradeshow to inform them of the security challenges they face every day. “Only speaking technically and only speaking to security stakeholders isn’t going to solve your business problems,” Eide says.
As for the top 2018 headlines to look out for? “Right now the cat’s meow is GDPR.”
