CBRE, The Washington Business Journal and W2 Communications Partner to Host 2nd Annual Cybersecurity Impact Awards Program

Call for Submissions Now Open to all Washington, D.C., Maryland and Virginia Headquartered Companies for Leadership and Innovation within Cybersecurity – Free to Enter

McLean, VA. – January 7, 2020 – The 2nd Annual Cybersecurity Impact Awards, dedicated to shining a spotlight on Washington, D.C., Maryland and Virginia-based companies for their leadership and innovation within the cybersecurity industry, today announced that the call for entries is now open. Entries can now be submitted for free at: https://www.cybertacos.net/submit-nomination/ until March 20, 2020.

The 2020 program is supported by CBRE, the Washington Business Journal and W2 Communications and winners will be honored at an event to take place in Washington, D.C. on May 14, 2020 followed by a special advertising supplement in the Washington Business Journal featuring all of the winners and sponsors. The program will take place during CYBERTACOS – an award-winning and nationally recognized networking event series hosted by W2 Communications. With events previously held in Austin, Texas; Washington, D.C.; San Francisco, California and Northern Virginia, nearly 5,000 members of the national cybersecurity community have registered for a CYBERTACOS event over the past two and a half years.

All of the winners are selected by an independent panel of 15 judges (check them out here: https://www.cybertacos.net/meet-the-judges/) who will review submissions in the following categories:

  • Start-up to Watch (Under 15 employees or less than 24 months in business)
  • Small business (Under 50 employees)
  • Mid-size (51-250 employees)
  • Large (251+ employees)
  • Individual – New this year – the program will recognize ten individuals making an impact in the region

“While there is immense competition within the cybersecurity industry, this program is designed to bring the DMV – DC, Maryland and Virginia – together to celebrate the successes and achievements that are being accomplished in this region. So much is happening under the radar and we must work together to let the world know that if you want to achieve success in cybersecurity there is no better place. The old adage of ‘a rising tide lifts all boats’ could not be more true and I hope this awards program offers a platform for calling out DMV-headquartered companies and the impact they are making within the global cybersecurity industry to protect individuals, companies/organizations and countries/nations,” said Evan Weisel, Principal and Co-Founder of W2 Communications.

“On behalf of the Washington Business Journal, we are pleased to sponsor the Cybersecurity Impact Awards in 2020.  Cybersecurity businesses continue to drive growth, investment and innovation in our region.  Recognizing those companies and individuals in the industry is a natural fit for The Washington Business Journal.  We look forward to very successful and impactful event in 2020,” said Peter Abrahams, Market President & Publisher, Washington Business Journal.

“CBRE is looking forward to partnering with W2 Communications and The Washington Business Journal to honor cybersecurity organizations and individuals. This is one of the fastest growing sectors in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area. Our region has access to one of the largest cybersecurity talent pools in the nation, and this talent is needed to satisfy the increased demand for cyber defense services in nearly every industry,” said Kyle Schoppmann, the Executive Managing Director at CBRE.
