Secure Code Warrior

Brief Overview

Secure Code Warrior is the preeminent learning platform that equips developers to be more security driven. The Australian-based upstart was growing its global footprint but needed to raise its thought leadership profile in the U.S. market to support lead gen activities. The company sought a cybersecurity PR firm partner who could bolster its brand awareness with minimal direction, limited executive bench and content assets.

Customer

  • Secure Code Warrior equips developers to be security-driven by teaching them the skills to defend their organization through secure code.
  • The firm works with security and developer teams from some of the world’s leading financial services and CPG brands.

Opportunity

  • Secure Code Warrior sought a global hub and spoke model driven by its U.S. agency partner who could operationalize a thought leadership program that could quickly elevate the profiles of its two co-founders, Pieter Danhieux and Matias Madou.
  • The company was also gearing up to launch its second annual ‘State of Developer-driven Security’ survey and was seeking a more consistent cadence of launch and phase-two coverage highlighting the key findings.

Solution

  • W2 Communications created quarterly thought leadership content programs to enable the co-founders to engage in informational briefings with publications strategic to their business endeavors and author contributed op-ed pieces on a near bi-weekly cadence for earned placements. The program was then customized for each respective region to enable them to generate similar outcomes.
  • We also devised a strategic media relations campaign to support Secure Code Warrior’s foundational research study and help educate and bring awareness to a broader set of media publications.

Result

  • W2 Communications more than doubled Secure Code Warrior’s U.S. coverage metric in 2022, securing 85 pieces of coverage, up from 41 the prior year.
  • The brand was also regularly featured in its desired tier-1 media platforms, including Dark Reading, SC Media and SD Times, among others.
