Customer

  • Inmarsat Government is the leading provider of the most advanced global, mobile SATCOM for U.S. Department of Defense (DoD), Intelligence Community (IC), Department of Homeland Security (DHS), public safety and civilian agencies.
  • Since 1979, these agencies have benefited from highly reliable, secure and affordable SATCOM – built with government users in mind – with resilient, flexible capabilities to complement their satellite resources.
  • Leveraging an industry-leading, scalable, multiband network infrastructure, Inmarsat Government offers a suite of managed network services and end-to-end communications solutions to support users on land, at sea and in the air – even in the world’s most remote regions.

Opportunity

  • Inmarsat Government sought to increase its visibility, particularly within the DoD. It needed an agency to help develop media strategies as it advocated for changes in SATCOM acquisition policies that would strengthen DoD-industry partnerships.
  • Its senior executive team represented a vast but underutilized “go to” resource for insightful commentary about news and trends.
  • In addition, Inmarsat Government was looking for more marketing content about upcoming product launches and enhancements.

Solution

  • The W2 Communications team collaborated closely with Inmarsat Government to cultivate mutually beneficial relationships with key reporters, sharing insights that positioned the senior executives as top industry subject matter experts (SMEs) and thought leaders.
  • The team produces a high volume of content with a consistent cadence that reiterated Inmarsat Government’s perspectives on acquisition policies to underscore the critical value of an integrated SATCOM architecture that leveraged commercial solutions.
  • We develop a calendar of content for Inmarsat Government’s LinkedIn account, ensuring a consistent cadence of updates from the company to its followers. We also amplified the company’s senior executives’ social media presence with commentary on timely topics, sharing and re-tweeting articles from top journalists and DoD leadership.
  • The team generates a steady stream of marketing materials in the form of web content, white papers, product sheets and use cases that highlight Inmarsat and Inmarsat Government’s offerings for U.S. government audiences.

Result

  • The W2 Communications team members helped Inmarsat Government contribute a number of highly followed, regularly published SME/thought leadership columns in well-regarded industry publications, such as Via Satellite and MilsatMagazine.
  • Over a five-year timeframe, the PR team placed 45 executive-bylined articles in key industry publications such as SIGNAL Magazine, SpaceNews, Defense News, Washington Technology and others.
  • The senior executives’ Twitter following grew by 16 percent and their tweet engagement spiked by almost 200 percent during one three-month period.
  • Marketing materials are actively used by Inmarsat Government’s sales team at industry events, are posted on the company’s website and are used to support a digital marketing campaign.
