CSC

Brief Overview

CSC Digital Brand Services (DBS) turned to W2 Communications to launch the company’s first-ever media relations program to highlight the challenges that companies face with their domain security and the value of an enterprise-grade domain registrar.

Customer

  • CSC DBS is an enterprise domain registrar that operates as a division of CSC Global. This over 120-year-old company provides business services to some of the largest companies in the world.
  • The DBS division is trusted throughout Forbes Global 2000 and the 100 Best Global Brands to manage enterprise domain names, domain name system (DNS), digital certificate management, and digital brand and fraud protection.

Opportunity

  • The CSC team wanted to educate the market on the challenges of domain security as it was becoming a blind spot for enterprise security teams who didn’t realize how cyber criminals were leveraging fraudulent domains to launch cyber attacks.
  • CSC’s marketing team sought strategic guidance to better illustrate its customers’ challenges as a security issue.
  • CSC needed a cybersecurity PR firm that could provide messaging guidance, strategic media relations strategy, and insights into how to amplify the company’s narrative.

Solution

  • The W2 Communications team worked with CSC leaders and executives to streamline the company messaging to better resonate with media targets and highlight the urgency of domain security issues.
  • This led to the creation and annual development of CSC’s Forbes Global 2000 Domain Security report, highlighting the domain security shortcomings and issues facing the world’s largest companies.
  • Following the report’s development, CSC also developed smaller research reports highlighting domain security shortcomings in various industries — including the energy sector, the political realm and healthcare.
  • W2 Communications also implemented a contributed article program to showcase the expertise of CSC’s subject matter experts.

Result

  • The program results led to the largest media visibility for CSC in company history, with marquee coverage in high-visibility publications such as Dark Reading, Inc., SC Magazine, TechRepublic, and Agency France Presse.
  • This visibility has led to CSC becoming a trusted resource on domain security issues and trends, with media and other security influencers coming directly to CSC as a resource while also citing the domain security report in external outlets.
  • In addition, the company’s experts have gained broader industry visibility with the launch of the contributed article program.
