We are seeking a skilled and driven Media Relations Specialist to support communications operations for a government agency. In this role, you will work alongside a team of dedicated communications professionals to manage and advance speaking opportunities for agency leadership.
This position is based in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area. Candidates must be available for onsite work at agency facilities as required by the program. Flexibility for a hybrid schedule may be available depending on contract requirements. Hiring is contingent upon contract award, anticipated for September 2026.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitoring shared email boxes and agency digital platform submissions for meeting and speaking requests; logging and tracking incoming requests in accordance with established standard operating procedures, and generating reports to assist with management and disposition of requests.
- Conducting research to gather pertinent information needed to evaluate meeting and speaking requests, to include coordinating with requestors and event points-of-contact to ensure required information.
- Supporting the review, assignment (with approval from Government staff), de-confliction and prioritization of meeting and speaking requests.
- Coordinating leadership and program liaison review and oversight of public speaking and meeting requests, to include providing support to the operation of speakers bureau and planning for such opportunities.
- Preparing Speaking Request Forms/Speaker Approval Forms, including pre-populating the template, following up with the requestor for missing information, and uploading the form to SharePoint.
- Preparing briefing memos for meeting and speaking engagements, coordinating and compiling information related to such engagements, and securing applicable background/reference information (to include bios, agendas).
- Performing clerical functions associated with speakers bureau activities such as preparing reports, tracking leadership commitments and decisions related to engagement opportunities, arranging, and participating in planning calls, producing weekly and monthly reports, and scheduling meetings.
Required Qualifications:

- BS/BA in Marketing, PR, Communications, or related field.
- Minimum of three (3) years’ of demonstrated employment experience (beyond internships) in:
- Assisting in the planning for the strategic direction and development of comprehensive PR campaigns.
- Diplomatically working with client and project team members.
- Ability to work efficiently and accurately in a fast-paced environment, both independently and collaboratively.
- Proactive work ethic with strong attention to detail.
- SharePoint skills for database and records management.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Minimum 1 year of experience in technology-related B2G or government agency communications. Knowledge of the cybersecurity press corps.
