The Media Perspective: Insights on the Satellite and Space Industry

W2 Communications recently hosted an insightful panel discussion with leading space sector journalists to learn their key take-aways from the Satellite 2025 and Space Symposium conferences, and to discuss their perspectives on the state of the overall market. The journalists included Jacqueline Feldscher of Payload Space; Rachel Jewett of Via Satellite; Maria Varmazis of N2K Space; and Mike Gruss of Space News.

The conversation covered a range of topics – what they saw as new and different from the 2024 conference events, newsworthy moments and resonant themes. There was lively discussion around changes in the federal government’s approach to the space and satellite sector, the increasing role of commercial adoption, the influence of SpaceX and Elon Musk, and the potential impacts on space and satellite companies in other countries (good news – there is still interest in collaboration among countries and on NASA’s Artemis program). More technical topics covered multi-orbit (the panel didn’t see this as reality – yet), the space debris problem, cybersecurity and launch supply and demand.

Towards the end of the discussion, the conversation shifted to these leading reporters’ priorities on what to cover in a growing market and what makes for a compelling story – key information for those in this sector looking to increase their market visibility.

The recording of the panel discussion is available below for those who would like to watch.
